Oil Well Flats – located 7 miles north of Canon City in a BLM area this is popular for bikers that want to boon dock and roll out onto their bikes. Lots of intermediate trails here with a smattering of expert trails. Islands in the Sky trail has the best views of Canon City anywhere.
Arkansas River trail – this is a 10 mile trail along the Arkansas that goes through Canon City – it is flat and wide. A good place to walk the dog, do some fly fishing or leisurely ride your mountain bike
Alta Vista Point – a short easy trail that ends at a Gorge overlook point that is built out over the edge of the cliff. Great views of the bridge and river. There are tables and chairs there so bring your lunch. There is also a trail behind the deck that leads up to a hill with great views and two chairs and a table to enjoy a drink
