Mountain View RV Resort FAQ — Everything You Need to Know

Does Mountain View RV Resort offer full hookups?

Yes — every one of our 41 sites comes with full hookups: water, sewer, and your choice of 20, 30 or 50 amp electric. Sites are level gravel, so you’re not fighting a slope after a long drive. Premium sites include concrete patios (300 sq ft), picnic tables, and fire pits.

What size RVs can you accommodate?

We’re big-rig friendly. Pull-through sites run 32’×65′ or 32’x75′ standard, and we can handle rigs up to 75′ feet (Although Colorado law limits length with triple tow to 65′). Premium sites are 40’×70′ with landscaping designed for easy in-and-out access — no white-knuckle backing required. There are multiple sites 90′ and 75′ long so bring your toyhauler.

Is WiFi available at Mountain View RV Resort?

Yes, and it’s actually good WiFi. We run Starlink across the whole park — fast enough for streaming, video calls, and remote work. No throttling, no password hunting. It’s included with your site.

Are pets allowed?

We’re pet-friendly, with a few ground rules:

  • Up to 4 pets per site
  • Dogs must be leashed at all times
  • No aggressive dogs (pit bulls only excluded breed)
  • Pets are not allowed in cabins or glamping domes (service animals with handlers are welcome)

Can I leave my pet unattended?

While it is not recommended we have no issue with pets left unattended as long as they are not barking constantly. We recommend you notify the front desk when you are doing so in case of a power outage. We would not want your pet to overheat.

If you are leaving your pet for an extended period Eight Mile Ranch is right next to our park and has first class boarding facilities. Highly recommended

What are your rates and what’s included?

RV sites start at $39.99/night — that covers full hookups, Starlink WiFi, and access to all park amenities. Cabins sleep 4 and include heat/AC, mini-fridge, and microwave. Note: no pets in cabins and linens aren’t provided, but the bathhouse is close by.

Rates vary by site type and season. Check real-time rates and book at mountainviewrvresort.net/rates/

Do you have availability for my dates?

We’re open April 1 through October 31 each season. With only 41 sites, we fill up fast — especially during Royal Gorge peak season (summer weekends and holidays). Don’t wait to lock in your dates.

What time is check-in/check-out? Can I arrive late? Can I stay past check-out time?

Check-in for RV sites is from 1pm-6pm. Check-out is by 11:000am. Check-in for cabins and domes is 3-6pm. Our policy is we allow a one hour grace period on either side of these times. If your RV arrives before noon there is an early arrival charge. Likewise, if you stay past noon, there is a late departure charge (subject to availability). For cabins and domes that means check-in before 2pm is a charged time. If you stay past 2pm there is another daily charge.

Note: For safety reasons, RV campers are not allowed to check-in after dark. This means 30 minutes after sunset is the latest an RV can check-in and that time varies by time of year. People in domes or cabins must check-in no later than 9:00pm.  Once checked in you can come and go at any time as you wish.

What amenities does the park offer?

We keep things clean and functional — nothing fancy, nothing broken:

  • Clean showers and bathhouse
  • On-site laundry
  • Camp store
  • Community building with kitchen and grill (free for group use)
  • Gated security entrance
  • Trash service
  • Firewood available
  • ADA accessible facilities

No pool — but you get panoramic Sangre de Cristo mountain views and genuinely dark skies. That’s the trade-off most guests are happy to make.

How close are you to Royal Gorge and other attractions?

We are a prime Royal Gorge RV park.  Location is one of our strongest selling points:

  • 3 miles to Royal Gorge Bridge & Park
  • 6–7 miles to Cañon City – Royal Gorge Route Railroad, restaurants, grocery)
  • 10 minutes to gas stations, grocery pharmacies, and everyday conveniences via Hwy 50
  • ~2.5 hours from Denver — easy weekend trip or road-trip stopover
  • 0.75 miles to rafting companies
  • ~ 1 hour to Cripple Creek, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods

What are  park rules?

A few things to know before you arrive:

  • Quiet hours: 10pm–7am — enforced
  • No vehicle or RV washing on-site — $50 fine. Our water is trucked in from the Arkansas River, so we protect every drop.
  • No tent camping
  • Security gate is active — guests receive access instructions at check-in

Is the park clean, safe, and well-maintained?

We’re owner-operated and on-site daily. Sites, showers, and common areas get attention every day — not just when someone complains. The security gate is real, not decorative. We don’t have random people driving through the resort scouting for things to steal like some other parks. Guests consistently call out cleanliness, the mountain views, and hands-on management in reviews on TripAdvisor and Good Sam. Come see for yourself.

How Does Mountain View RV Resort Compare to other Royal Gorge RV Parks

We provide a comparison table that puts all the features and amenities of each park side by side with pros and cons of each – no pulling punches.

Do you allow visitors or extra vehicles?

You are welcome to have a friend visit you when you are our guest. However, they must register at the office and park outside the gate. Visitors are not allowed to drive into the park.

You can have a second vehicle, however, only one vehicle is allowed per site and the second vehicle must park in the front parking area. See our vehicle policy.

Do you have showers and laundry facilities?

Yes we have luxurious rain showers in our bath house. Our laundry is open 24 hours and a coin changer is located in the office.

Do your cabins/ glamping domes have bathrooms/ running water?

No water or bathrooms are inside cabins or domes. The showerhouse/bathroom is a few yards away.

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

We have two policies. The normal policy is cancellations more than 7 days in advance of a reservation receive a camp credit good until the end of October in the next camping season. Cancellations less than 7 days from a reservation do not receive a refund.

However, we offer a Travel Cancellation Protection Plan during checkout. This plan offers a full credit card refund (less insurance cost) for any cancellation at any time. If you break down on your way here or get sick or injured or have to leave early, we refund the price of the lost days. For just $9 per night you can have peace of mind knowing there is no stress when plans change.

Are campfires allowed? Can bring firewood or buy it there?

As long as Fremont County has not declared a fire ban, fires are allowed. You cannot bring firewood from out of state but in state residents can bring their own. We do sell firewood in our camp store and there are buying options nearby.

Can I choose a specific site?

Yes, you can choose your site during the reservation process. If you absolutely want a specific site there is an option to pay the lock site fee. The reservation software has a algorithm that optimizes site capacity so without the lock site fee it is possible that your site could be moved to a comparable site (same price tier). This is mainly an issue with short stays. Once your length of stay gets large enough, the algorithm likely will not move your site, but if you are staying 3 nights or less, lock site is the way to go to secure a particular site.

What should I know before arriving at 6400′ elevation?

Not only are we at a high elevation but also in a desert climate. We are over 1100′ higher than Canon City and temperatures here are 5-7 degrees cooler. If you are arriving from a low altitude location give yourself a day or two to acclimate before doing anything strenuous. Some people feel light headed so take your time exerting yourself. The sun is very strong here so wear a sunscreen. High altitude dehydrates you so drink plenty of water and understand if you are not acclimated and drink alcohol heavily you may have a bad hangover!  It may reach 90 degrees here in mid-summer but nights can be quite cool due to the low humidity. You will be surprised the temperature difference between sun and shade.

Can I get over the air TV reception or cable TV?

No, we are too far away for OTA TV reception and there is no cable services here. We do offer high speed Starlink WiFi which is capable of streaming live TV. Most sites have clear views for satellite reception.
